Ten women with acquired brain injuries were interviewed using a semi-structured interview format. The data was subjected to a thematic analysis, utilizing a qualitative approach.
The analysis of the study revealed three central themes: (1) Roadblocks within the rehabilitation system, (2) ABI resulting in a loss of personal identity and financial burdens, and (3) Entrepreneurship and educational approaches as strategies for personal advancement.

The escalating number of senior citizens and their active engagement in the workforce underscores the critical importance of evaluating the quality of work life for older employees. To continue exploring the topic of elderly workers' quality of working life (QoWL), the development of a valid measurement tool is a necessary step.
To establish and confirm the reliability and validity of the Quality of Work Life Scale-Elderly (QoWLS-E) for Sri Lankan workers aged 60 years and older.
Development and validation of the 35 QoWLS-E items were executed in two sequential phases. Following a thorough literature review and expert input, the items were created in English and then adapted into Sinhala. A principal component analysis (PCA) was performed on 38-item initial scale, employing data from 275 elderly workers across selected Colombo district administrative divisions. A separate group of 250 elderly workers participated in a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to assess the factor structure of the developed scale.
Nine principal components, resulting from PCA, accounted for 71% of the variance. This finding was subsequently validated by Confirmatory Factor Analysis (RMSEA=0.07, SRMR=0.10, NNFI=0.87, GFI=0.82, CFI=0.96). With 35 items and nine domains (physical health, psychological well-being, welfare facilities, safety, job content, co-workers, supervisors, flexibility, and autonomy), the QoWLS-E demonstrates strong internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.77) and test-retest reliability (0.82). Consequently, the QoWLS-E is deemed conceptually and culturally appropriate for assessing quality of work life among elderly populations. Describing and monitoring the improvement of QOWL in the elderly could be a valuable tool.

This result was further validated through confirmatory factor analysis exhibiting acceptable fit indices (RMSEA-0.07, SRMR-0.10, NNFI-0.87, GFI-0.82, CFI-0.96). Research into preventing and treating work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) has not yet fully overcome the challenge they pose. Rehabilitating and preventing WRMSDs, with the ultimate goal of decreasing pain and disability, requires improving sensorimotor control, which is where extrinsic feedback is suggested as a beneficial approach. Nevertheless, systematic reviews examining the efficacy of extrinsic feedback in addressing WRMSDs are scarce.
A systematic review will be conducted to determine the role of external feedback in mitigating and treating work-related musculoskeletal disorders.
Five databases—CINAHL, Embase, Ergonomics Abstract, PsycInfo, and PubMed—were examined in a comprehensive search. Investigations encompassing diverse methodologies, examining the impact of external feedback during work activities on three facets (function, symptoms, sensorimotor control) within the framework of preventing and rehabilitating work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs), were reviewed.
3387 participants, including 925 who sustained injuries, formed the sample size across 49 studies focused on work-related tasks. These tasks were studied in 27 workplace environments and 22 controlled settings. Controlled environments proved effective in utilizing extrinsic feedback to briefly mitigate functional limitations and sensorimotor changes, supported by limited to moderate evidence. This approach was also shown to improve function, symptoms, and sensorimotor control in injured individuals, backed by moderate evidence. The workplace showed effectiveness in averting short-term functional limitations (limited supporting data). Regarding WRMSD rehabilitation in the workplace, the evidence presented was contradictory.
Within controlled environments, a compelling complementary tool for the prevention and rehabilitation of WRMSDs is extrinsic feedback. Comprehensive supplementary data is required to determine the consequences of this action for the prevention and restoration of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the occupational context.
The application of extrinsic feedback, within a controlled environment, offers an interesting supplementary approach to both preventing and rehabilitating WRMSDs.
